(Harrisburg, PA) July 24, 2009 – Governor Edward G. Rendell visited the Arbor E&T, LLC Dauphin County Summer Youth Employment Project (SYEP), where he held a press conference addressing the success of the program. Eleven youth from three area Arbor SYEPs attended. Olympia Boles, a young lady participating in the Cumberland County project, spoke to the media about her SYEP experiences and what the program means to her and her family. Project Director Robert Derry is proud of his staff at the three SYEP Centers (Harrisburg, Cumberland County, and Jump Street), and is excited that the program is making such a big difference in the lives of the local youth participants and their families. The SYEP program focuses on job readiness and job training for high-growth sectors, and involves the participation of local employers and community organizations. Arbor’s South Central PA projects are funded by the South Central Workforce Investment Board, through which they receive ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) support.
