(Canoga Park, CA) On Wednesday July 8th, the Arbor E&T, LLC managed Canoga Park WorkSource Center (WSC) hosted its summer 2009 Job and Resource Fair. For the four-hour Fair, held in the lobby of the Canoga Park Center, the WSC partnered with the State of California Employment Development Department (EDD); the State of California Assembly Speaker Karen Bass; Assembly Member Bob Blumenfield; Los Angeles City Councilmember Dennis Zine; the Los Angeles Community Development Department and the San Fernando Valley
Employer Advisory Council. The event was a great success with over 1100 job seekers and 36 employers in attendance. Channel 5—KTLA, Channel 7—KABC, and Channel 34—KMEX along with radio station KNX AM—1070, covered the event.

The KTLA team arrived at 7:30 am to set up for their live telecast promoting the event to the entire Los Angeles region. Later in the day, Councilmember Zine presented the Canoga Park WSC a certificate of appreciation, and spoke of the importance of community partnerships and assisting the needs of job seekers. Zine commended the WSC staff for their dedication in providing services to the public during the current economic crisis. Others who spoke briefly at the event were Kenn Phillips of the Valley Economic Alliance; Samantha Stevens, District Director (serving as a representative for Assembly Member Bob Blumenfield); Cynthia Swaisgood, Arbor Project Director; and Arbor Business Services Manager, Alex Martinez. Olabisi Oyewo, Manager of the Canoga Park EDD Office, encouraged all job seekers to visit the WSC to take advantage of the resources available to them.

Numerous local employers, government agency representatives, and local nonprofit organizations where on hand to provide information about local food banks, health services, child care resources, renters and mortgage assistance, job training and education, and other resources.  The employers who participated accepted resumes and provided information about their employment opportunities.
