(Orange County, Calif.) – The Orange County Register’s Pat Brennan recently wrote an article featuring Casey Cochran’s O.C. (Orange County) Green Guide. The O. C. Green Guide, once a local endeavor, is now nationwide and called Green Guide Network. The former hobby site of Mr. Cochran, now a full-time job, is established in San Francisco, Portland, Denver, New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Miami, among other cities. The network hosts information about farmers markets, green businesses, and points of contact for sustainable living information. The green movement encourages people to recycle, reduce and reuse to eliminate waste and conserve natural resources.
Arbor partnered with Green Guide Network not long ago, and the “biggest response [to the site] right now has been with the green job board," said Mr. Cochran. Arbor has “a lot of the [green] jobs in their network - a lot of placements with displaced workers."
Many of Arbor’s work readiness programs are incorporating sustainable energy and green concepts, and its parent company, ResCare, is in the final stages of developing a green curriculum for its Job Corps programs. The ResCare Job Corps Centers have enthusiastically embraced green living and have incorporated the concepts into daily life on center.
