Arbor Workforce Institute

Arbor Education & Training has worked as a partner in the nation's workforce development system for almost 40 years. During this time, our programs have adapted to the needs of a changing economy and the expectations of our customers: employers, job seekers, and taxpayers. Working with you to chart the future of workforce development is the mission of the Arbor Workforce Institute.

Drawing on the broad range of expertise within the Arbor family as well as Arbor’s partnerships with other organizations, the Workforce Institute can help you remain up-to-date on the latest trends, research, legislative action, government policy, and best practices in the fields of economics, social welfare, and workforce development.  

The Institute focuses on evolving national workforce policy, offering:   

  • A look at the implications of major economic and social forces such as globalization, technology, and demographic trends
  • Insights based on experiences with One-Stop services, workforce boards, sector strategies, and more

This website is available to all interested parties at no cost and includes the following services:

  1. National Workforce Policy – News and updates on legislation, budget and appropriation, and regulatory issues as they play out in the U.S. Congress and the administration

  1. Perspective – Policy Views from Bob Knight, a monthly e-newsletter available at no cost

    Robert Knight, Managing Director of the Institute, served for 22 years as president of the National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB) and also served as professional staff member with the United States Senate Subcommittee on Employment and Training.
  1. Major Trends – A fresh look at economic and social forces that will shape the future of workforce development

    Access a changing menu of links and articles examining the economic, social, political, technological, and demographic forces that define the 21st century workplace and workforce.
  1. Programs – A view of the latest models in Workforce Services and services, including news and links on innovations in the One-Stop Career Center system, youth development programs, research, best practices, and new ideas in services and programs
  1. Speakers Bureau – An Institute service that provides speakers for state, regional, and national conferences; offers technical assistance and training for workforce boards, policy staff, and One-Stop staff; and co-sponsors seminars and training sessions.
