Arbor Workforce Institute
Arbor Education & Training has worked as a partner in the nation's workforce development system for over 35 years. During this time, our programs have adapted to the needs of a changing economy and the expectations of our customers—employers, jobseekers, and taxpayers. Working with you to chart the future of workforce development is the mission of the Arbor Workforce Institute.

Robert Knight is Managing Director of the Institute, located in Washington, DC. Before joining Arbor, Mr. Knight served for 22 years as President of the National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB). He also served as Professional Staff Member with the United States Senate Subcommittee on Employment and Training.

The Institute Web site focuses on evolving national workforce policy from two perspectives: (1) the implications of economic and social forces—major trends such as globalization, technology, and demographics-for workforce policy and (2) the influence of experience-what works in One-Stops, workforce boards, sector strategies, etc.-on future workforce policy. This Web site is available to all interested parties at no cost and includes the following services:

National Workforce Policy: News and updates on legislation, budget and appropriation, and regulatory issues as they play out in the U.S. Congress and the administration. Topics include:

  • Workforce Investment Act
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program
